The ICÓNICA Denture Process

Your journey to a new smile is an artistic and meticulous process:

The Consultation & Foundation

It begins with a comprehensive consultation and planning. If any teeth need to be removed, we may perform Pre-Prosthetic Surgery to ensure your jaw provides a smooth, stable foundation for a perfect denture fit.

The Precise Impressions & Design

We take highly accurate impressions of your mouth. We then work with you to select the ideal shape, size, and shade of teeth for a result that looks natural and complements your facial features.

The Try-In & Final Delivery

We create a wax mock-up of your denture for you to try in. This critical step allows us to perfect the bite, fit, and aesthetics before the final denture is made. At your final visit, we will deliver your beautiful new smile and make any minor adjustments for a perfect fit.

A complete denture replaces all of the teeth in an upper or lower arch. A partial denture is used when some healthy natural teeth remain. It fills in the gaps and typically uses small metal or acrylic clasps to anchor to the existing teeth.
An immediate denture is a temporary denture that is fabricated before your remaining teeth are extracted and is placed on the same day as your surgery. This is a wonderful option that ensures you will never have to go without teeth while your gums are healing.
There is always an adjustment period, which can take a few days to a few weeks. Your speech may be affected temporarily, and it will take time to learn to eat comfortably. We are here to support you through this process with adjustments and guidance.
There will be a learning curve, but yes, you will be able to eat a wide variety of foods. We recommend starting with soft foods and cutting everything into smaller pieces. Over time, as your muscles adapt, you will become more confident with chewing.
It is common to have a slight lisp or change in speech when you first get your dentures. The best way to overcome this is to practice speaking—read out loud or sing along to the radio. Your tongue and lips will quickly adapt to the new shape of your mouth.
A well-made, custom denture should fit snugly and comfortably. However, a lower denture naturally has less suction than an upper one and can be less stable. Using a small amount of denture adhesive can help. For the ultimate in stability, nothing compares to implant support.
Yes. For the ultimate in stability and confidence, we highly recommend Implant-Supported Dentures. By placing a few dental implants, your denture can “snap” securely into place, eliminating any slipping or need for adhesives.
You should remove your dentures and brush them daily with a soft-bristled denture brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner. You should also brush your gums and tongue. Never use hot water, as it can warp the denture.
Yes. It is very important to remove your dentures for at least 6-8 hours every day, typically while you sleep. This allows your gum tissues to rest and helps maintain the health of your mouth.
Over time, your jawbone and gums naturally change shape, which can cause a once well-fitting denture to become loose. A reline is a procedure to resurface the inside of your denture to match the current shape of your gums, restoring a snug and comfortable fit. Most dentures need to be relined every 1-2 years.
Due to normal wear and the changing shape of your jaw, most dentures need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor the fit of your denture and the health of your mouth.
